Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in the fields of film, television as well as theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer in her role on the Showtime show Soul Food. Following her wedding, she was Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland. Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian and who was a resident of Nigeria at the age of was just seven years old. She had a lot of knowledge about world cultures and traveling at such a young stage. She attended boarding school in London between the ages of seven and nine years old, then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor studied and became a classical dancer in Toronto. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school where she not only danced but studied theater as well. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that performing would become her profession. Dance was her passion for over a decade. She was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. The university offered her master's degree in theatre and also double-majored in social and psychology. Contractor got her first part in the midst of her university year. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with praise from the audience. This play was named the best production in Canada by the critics. Contractor was offered the opportunity to enroll in Stratford's conservatory, where the top eight men and four women are accepted for a course lasting 20 weeks on the classical stage that she gladly accepted. Contractor got a confirmed spot for the following season and was given the role of Hermia.
